Anniversary of the Liberation of Syria

On the anniversary of Syria’s liberation from one of the most oppressive dictatorial regimes in its modern history—a regime that spread corruption for more than five decades and dismantled the economic, political, and social foundations of Syrian society—we reaffirm today that this occasion is not merely a historical moment, but a testament to the unwavering determination of Syrians to build a future worthy of them, rooted in justice, dignity, and humanity.

At the Syrian American Association of Academics, we firmly believe that knowledge is the most powerful path toward building a new Syria—one where peace prevails, and where all individuals enjoy equal rights and opportunities, free from tyranny and all forms of oppression.

On this day, we honor the martyrs of our nation, pray for the recovery of the wounded, call for freedom for all detainees, and wish peace and safety for Syrians everywhere, both inside the country and across the diaspora.

May this anniversary inspire continued perseverance and meaningful action, marking a step toward building a homeland we can proudly present to future generations.
