The Syrian American Academic Society Welcomes Ms. Aya Kanj to Its Board of Directors
The Syrian American Academic Society (SAAS) is pleased to welcome Ms. Aya Saleh Bek Kanj to the Society’s Board of Directors and to announce her appointment as the Society’s Public Relations Coordinator in Syria. We wish her every success in her new role and look forward to her valuable contribution to advancing the Society’s mission and strengthening its institutional work.
Ms. Aya Kanj is an entrepreneur and expert in digital transformation and institutional development. She is the Founder and General Manager of GWA Group in Syria and the United States, with more than 25 years of experience leading projects in technology, education, and sustainable development.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Barcelona in Spain and the University of Bordeaux in France, in addition to a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
Throughout her professional career, Ms. Kanj has led numerous national and regional initiatives in digital transformation, education, entrepreneurship, and institutional capacity building, in collaboration with international organizations such as the United Nations, UNESCO, UNICEF, and the European Union.
Among her notable achievements is leading the SIMIS digital transformation project at the Syrian Ministry of Education in collaboration with UNESCO, as well as managing projects with the European Union and developing digital initiatives and platforms aimed at empowering youth and women and promoting innovation and entrepreneurship.
Through her membership on the Board of Directors and her expertise in the digital field, Ms. Kanj will contribute to the development of the Society’s website and the strengthening of its digital presence, while also providing proposals and ideas to enhance communication with members and academics and further develop the Society’s digital services and content.
